Don't Wake Me Up
So they're not lying to you, if you've ever read the Whole30 program guide. Day 3 dawns just like it did on Day 2, but somehow you aren't ready for it. It makes sense, really, if your body is spending all this extra energy on it's chemical-spring-cleaning, but still.... I'm exhausted!
My morning routine usually starts at 5:30am with no problem, but today - phew! I could have sworn it was only just after midnight when my alarm went off. They say it will wear off, of which I have no doubt, but seriously - today was loooong. I would have paid an exorbitant amount of money for this today! (Check in out here)

I Dream of Salad Dressing
I started the day off with breakfast (don't be fooled - it's still a challenge but it is getting better) but I must not have gotten the right combo of proteins, fats and carbs (veggie carbs that is) because by 11am I was ready for lunch. I don't usually break for lunch until 1pm, so to hold myself over I had a little handful of coconut shavings - so delicious! I love the coconut flavor in just about anything and even though I still think it goes better in a mocha, it was quite refreshing.
When 1pm came around I grabbed my salad, all excited to delve in. I opened it up with the expectation of fresh bliss, shining in all of its glory... but I was sorely disappointed. I really threw my lunch together today, and it showed. The veggies were fresh, but there wasn't much of a variety, and my tomatoes had seeped onto everything so it all was a slimy, unappetizing mess. In that moment, like I never have before, I desperately wanted salad dressing! I'm not a Balsamic Vinaigrette fan, so I've been eating my salads plain. And today was just not cutting it. I choked my way through lunch very thankful for my home-brewed-unsweetened ice-tea, and dreamed of what it would be like to scoop gobs of bleu cheese dressing into my bowl... (Helpful Hint: Concerning leaky tomatoes, I tried cutting the tomatoes in larger chunks and sitting them on the very top of my salad and that worked great! The trick is not to cut them too small.)

Off To Bed
Now at the end of my day I am thankful to say I did not cave in, regardless of how much I wanted to just crawl back into bed with a box of Ritz and peanut butter. All in all today would still rate as high as a 7, I think... if I could think. I need to get some rest, but I'm excited to have this feeling go away and get all that energy they keep talking about! I'll keep you posted.
